SOME EVENTS AND SPECIAL PLACES TO VISIT WHILE IN OUR AREA:

CIVIL WAR TOWN OF ANDERSONVILLE:
Antique shops; Drummer Boy Museum and many other historic reminders of Civil War Era. Andersonville holds Historic Fair complete with parade, mock Civil War battle, old time craftsmen, clogging, music and art show in October of every year.

ANDERSONVILLE ATIONAL HISTORIC SITE:
Prisoner of War Memorial Museum, Civil War Prison Stockade (simulation); Providence Spring allegedly opened by a storm after the water in Sweet Water Creek running through Stockade was too contaminated to drink; and National Cemetery.

RESTORED MONTEZUMA GEORGIA RAILROAD DEPOT which is now home to the Macon County Historical Museum; Local Artist, Phoebe DeVaughn and our REAL ESTATE OFFICE.

VIEW THE BEAUTIFUL PEACH ORCHARDS (especially beautiful when blooming during springtime) Drive the Peach Blossom Trail in our area in the springtime. See commercial peach packing operations and visit gift shops on highway 96 between Fort Valley and Warner Robins.

THE PEACH BLOSSOM FESTIVAL was conceived around 1924 and continues to this day every Spring in the Fort Valley area.

Also in Fort Valley, in 1927 Mr.. Luce produced the first school bus and founded the Blue Bird Body Company, which has grown to be the World's largest producer of School Buses and one of the most luxurious recreational vehicles, the Wanderlodge. Blue Bird buses dominate school zones from Coast to Coast.

CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL in Macon, March of each year.

MIDDLE GEORGIA CAMELLIA SHOW; Massee Lane Gardens on GA Hwy 49 just north of Marshallville held in November, Dec and January.

Beaver Creek Festival - This annual event was started in the Fall of 1994 following the flood. This is a time to recognize the accomplishments that have been made since the flood. This festival features arts, crafts, food, live entertainment, and the Great Beaver Creek Duck Race!

THE GEORGIA AVIATION HALL OF FAME; Warner Robins, Georgia.

SITE OF LINDBERGH'S FIRST SOLO FLIGHT; Souther Field between Andersonville and Americus.

McKENZIE FROZEN FOODS: Founded in the late 1930s or early 40s by the Montezuma McKenzie family and operated for many years as strictly a locally owned and operated company producing the "McKenzie Brand" frozen foods. Now owned and operated by Birdseye Foods but still produces products as "McKenzie Brand."

DAPHNE LODGE AT LAKE BLACKSHEAR Hwy 280 between Americus and Cordele, famous for its fried catfish and hush puppies; also serves shrimp, steak and fried chicken.. Also the Olde Inn, next door.

KAUFFMAN STRAWBERRY FARM
When you feel like something sweet - pick-'em-yourself strawberries, ice cream, and cakes, and their famous strawberry lemonade. Open only during strawberry season.
